Certifications
We prioritize working with fabrics and manufacturing partners that meet internationally recognized standards for ethical and sustainable practices.
SMETA CERTIFICATION - SMETA Audits – The factories we collaborate with undergo SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) assessments, which evaluate working conditions, responsible business practices, and overall social compliance. These audits consider labor rights, health and safety, environmental impact, and business ethics, with periodic reviews ensuring ongoing adherence.
SGS CERTIFICATION - Materials used in our collections may meet SGS-certified quality and safety benchmarks, reinforcing confidence in responsible sourcing and compliance with international standards.
BCI COTTON CERTIFICATION - Licensed BCI Farmers produce cotton while caring for the environment, minimizing the negative effects of fertilizers and pesticides, and promoting water, soil health, and natural habitats. This is what we refer to as “Better Cotton.” BCI Farmers also commit to decent work principles that support workers' safety and well-being. Certain cottons we use come from BCI Licensed farms.
GOTS CERTIFICATION - We incorporate GOTS-certified textiles where possible, ensuring compliance with rigorous organic fiber standards from raw material sourcing to responsible manufacturing.
OKEO-TEX CERTIFICATION - OEKO-TEX® Many of the fabrics we select are OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning they have been tested for harmful substances and meet high standards for chemical safety and environmental responsibility.
ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
1% FOR THE PLANET - We are committed to contributing at least 1% of our sales exclusively towards environmental preservation and restoration through our membership in 1% for the Planet. This global alliance of businesses formalizes their dedication to protecting the natural world by integrating environmental giving into their core strategies. For Amanda Maria, this partnership is crucial to our social responsibility efforts, ensuring our contributions are vetted and audited by a trusted third party. We’re proud to be part of a global movement alongside over 2,000 organizations in more than 45 countries.
SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION - At Amanda Maria, we believe in slow fashion and are committed to avoiding overconsumption. We produce on an indent-only basis and maintain minimal stock levels to reduce waste. Our products are made from high-quality materials designed to stand the test of time.
SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING & SHIPPING - Sustainability extends to our packaging. We primarily use recycled plastics for our poly bags and biodegradable materials for our mailers, while all our shipping boxes are made from recyclable cardboard. For larger shipments, we prioritize sea freight to minimize our carbon footprint and consolidate shipments whenever possible. This approach reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing waste and environmental impact in every aspect of our business.
